This project proposes a maze-like installation on a bridge in Riga, designed as a temporary escape from the fast-paced urban environment. As people move through it, they slowly disconnect from the city and enter a more isolated, dystopian scene. The concrete walls reflect the urban context of the bridge, but at the same time they block it out, creating a sense of separation. On the other hand, soft cream tones, wood elements, artificial grass, and a lot of wild plants, create a very relaxing environment, like a natural oasis. At certain points in the maze, the solid walls open up into glass niches, revealing views of the river below. These moments reconnect visitors with the surrounding landscape and contrast with the otherwise enclosed feeling of the maze.
Inside the maze, there are wider spaces with different functions, allowing visitors to experience the place in multiple ways. There is a trampoline area for movement and play, a hammock zone for relaxation, and a sensory path made of different materials like stone and sand, encouraging people to feel the space through their bodies. There is also a larger social area with a bar, a snack wagon, and seating, where people can gather and spend time together.
Because there are many different activities, the maze feels open to everyone – people can find their own spot, experience it in their own way and see the city in a different perspective
