This project is conceived as a warm, elevated public space along the Daugava in Riga, where atmosphere and materiality are as important as the architecture itself. Natural wood tones and soft greenery form a calm, grounded base that runs throughout the site, creating continuity and a relaxed riverside character. Accents of red, introduced through lighting, furniture, and play elements, add energy and visual coherence, subtly linking different zones. The palette feels contemporary yet rooted in context, reflecting Riga’s mix of historic brick architecture and modern urban life. The design consistently opens toward the river, framing long views across the Daugava. Seating areas and the café are oriented to the water, supporting moments of rest, eating, and informal gathering while engaging with changing light conditions. During the day, the space feels open and bright; in the evening, it becomes warmer and more intimate as soft lighting reflects across wood and steel surfaces. At one end, the space shifts into a flexible social zone for small events, screenings, and informal gatherings, designed for adaptability rather than formality. A children’s playground introduces movement, color, and sound, supporting everyday use across age groups. A brick wall element anchors the project, adding texture and a sense of permanence within Riga’s architectural language.
