THE OBJECTIVE
To create a sundial design visualization using SketchUp, LayOut and V-ray. Location set in city Vilnus, the Square of Light, in honor of cities 700 year anniversary
PARTICIPANTS
Any active student who is studying in an accredited educational institution in
Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia.
SUBMISSION CATEGORIES
Are you an aspiring architect, landscape designer or engineer? Choose the submission category that best suits your field of study. TOP 5 submissions from each category will advance to the final for a jury vote.

SMALL SCALE
A free standing sculpture with high level of detail. Location can be chosen quite flexibly. Fits in 3x3m dimensions.

LARGE SCALE
Sundial of more monumental proportions that is integrated with landscaping or building design. Fits in 30x30m dimensions.

INTERACTIVE
Sundial function is enabled by the interaction with the human body or mechanical and audio-visual elements

JURY VOTE
Expert jury vote will decide the 1st, 2nd and 3dr place. Winners to be announced on 1st of July.

11th of April – Competition launch webinar

Introduction to competition;

Sundial design process and history by expert Mārtiņš Gills (www.saulespulkstenis.lv);

Basics of sundial design in SketchUp;
19th of April, 15:00 – SketchUp Tips and Tricks;
25th of April – Landscape design and advanced modeling tools;
2nd of May – Animation tools and interactive presentation;
10th of May – Giving your design a flair with V-ray for SketchUp;
17th of May – Project presentation with LayOut;
PROVIDED MATERIALS
Students will be provided with a geo-located SketchUp model of the site that shows the grading and vegetation of the square, as well as other relevant information and photos. Materials to be provided on April 11th.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students need to submit a working design proposal, that includes:

PDF file with project description, images, and dimensions;

3 project visualizations for voting page in .jpeg or .png format, minimum 2000px width, recommended 1:1 aspect ratio;

Video to show design function in .mp4 format;

Project SketchUp and Layout file to show proof of authorship;

Short project description for the voting page, maximum 500 characters
